You don’t have to know where you’re going yet. You just have to be asking the question.

This site is for people over fifty who are looking at their financial reality honestly and realizing the life they planned for doesn’t quite add up where they’re standing. People with health histories. People with real ties back home. People whose pension is technically a number but practically a problem. People who are not starting from a place of ease and are tired of expat content that assumes they are.

If that’s you, you’re in the right place.

I’m Joey. I’m 53, I’m in Ontario, and I’m in the process of moving abroad. Right now my focus is Albania, because when I ran the numbers it’s one of the few places where a modest Canadian income produces a real life. But this site covers more than one destination, and if Albania isn’t your answer, the framework applies wherever you land.

The site covers cost of living, visa options, healthcare abroad, the logistics of leaving, what to do with your stuff, how to keep earning remotely, and what actually happens in the first months after you arrive. It covers the hard parts too: the isolation, the doubt, the financial traps. The things nobody puts in the highlight reel.

If you’re new and money is the first question, start with the cost of living breakdown and the CPP and pension piece. If you’re already leaning toward Albania specifically, the visa options, city breakdown, and healthcare article are the practical core. If you’re still working out whether you can actually do this emotionally, read the conversation I had with my daughter before I made this real. Not because it’ll make the decision easier. Because it’s honest about what it costs and why it’s still worth it.

Nobody here has figured it out. We’re doing the work in real time and putting it where you can find it.
